Laboratory Manager
We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Manager to oversee our hospital laboratory operations. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality laboratory services while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
Essential Responsibilities
- Direct daily laboratory operations, including staff scheduling and resource allocation
- Monitor workload across functional areas to maintain productivity
- Implement and maintain quality control standards
- Collaborate with physicians, laboratory staff, and Medical Director on patient care
- Manage laboratory information systems
- Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration
- Lead staff recruitment, training, and development
- Ensure regulatory compliance and participate in quality assurance programs
- Manage inventory and supplies
- Coordinate with pathologists on compliance and documentation
- Oversee proficiency testing and performance reviews
- Participate in laboratory, hospital, quality, and pathology meetings
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Biology
- Minimum two years of management, supervisor, or team lead experience
- ASCP/AMT certification preferred
- Knowledge of laboratory regulatory requirements and compliance standards
- Understanding of infection control and laboratory safety protocols
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Experience with laboratory information systems
- Proven track record in team leadership and project management
- Normal color vision required (ability to distinguish faint lines and color variations)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds frequently, occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Close visual acuity for data analysis, computer work, and distinguishing faint lines
- Regular standing and manual dexterity for laboratory work
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens
Work Environment
Position operates in a clinical laboratory setting with exposure to standard laboratory conditions and hazards. Must be able to perform duties in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision and attention to detail.
